Lorde Reviews
In an article from The Guardian, Ro Kwon says that even if you have not attempted to read any of Lorde's works, you have probably seen her words in one way or another at some point in your life. He attributes that to the fact that her words are still relevant even in today's society. The reason Lorde was so successful in her work was because she was able to be vulnerable and embrace her differences (Kwon, 2017).
Briget Minamore from The White Review states, "There’s a clarity to Audre Lorde’s writing that becomes most apparent when you are presented with a collection of her work" (Minamore, 2018). She describes Lorde's essays as lyrical and unapologetic. She talks about how Lorde's work had relevance during it's original time period, but is also still relevant today.

Crenshaw Reviews
In an article from The Seattle Globalist, ChrisTiana ObeySumner mentions the fact that Crenshaw was not the first to think of the ideas behind intersectionality, but she believes that it is an important part of Sociology History for us to know how she invented the term (ObeySumner, 2018).
In Tablet Magazine, Cathy Young describes intersectionality as an up and coming topic that attracts many young females. She describes a speaking engagement she attended where Crenshaw and a panel of guests discussed Intersectionality and it's significance in today's society. The panel agreed that the term "intersectionality" has evolved since the creation of the term (Young, 2019).

Relevance
Lorde deserves to be included in the Sociological canon because of her insightful views of difference and her willingness to use herself as an example in her writings. When she put her personal stories into her writings, she forced people to look at race, class and sex in a different way. The issues that she emphasized are issues that have not gone away and are still relevant to our society over 20 years after her death. Crenshaw is important to the canon because she created an all encompassing term for a theory that many sociologist in the past had studied, reviewed and fought for. The term "Intersectionality," is widely used across the discipline today and has allowed others to have a better understanding of the theory and better understand it today. The creation Intersectionality also allowed for the additional research of other sociologist like Lorde who discussed the theory before it had a name.
